Notice is hereby given that the City Council of the City of Phenix City, Alabama and members of the Phenix City Planning Commission are set to meet with the Phenix City Board of Realtors at 5:30 p.m., Eastern Time, Thursday, May 4, 2017, in the Max Wilkes Fellowship Hall of the Martin-Idle Hour Park Community Center, 3743 Moon Lake Drive, Phenix City, Alabama. The purpose of said meeting will be to discuss the residential housing market in Phenix City.

Said meeting is open to the public. All interested parties are encouraged to attend.

Notice of Public Meeting for Residents of District 3 in Phenix City

Phenix City District 3 Councilmember Arthur L. Day, Jr. will hold public meetings for the residents of District 3, entitled Let’s Talk.  The meetings will be an open forum to provide the residents of District 3 an opportunity to discuss issues in District 3 and the community that are of concern to them.

The meetings will be held the third Saturday of each month, April through August, 2017, from 9 a.m. – 12 p.m. Eastern Time at the 5th Street South Police Precinct located at 507  5th Street South, Phenix City, Alabama.

The public is encouraged to attend this meeting.

Notice is hereby given that the members of the City Council of the City of Phenix City, Alabama, will meet with the members of the Historic Preservation Commission at 2 p.m., EDT, Monday, April 17, 2017, in the Third Floor Conference Room of the Municipal Building, located at 601 12th Street, Phenix City, Alabama.

The purpose of this meeting will be to review historic preservation maps.

Notice is hereby given that the City Council of the City of Phenix City, Alabama, in a response to a request by Norfolk Southern Railroad, will meet on the 16th day of May, at 9 a.m. EDT in the Cit Council Chambers located within the Public Safety building at 1111 Broad Street to consider the following request to close the at-grade railroad crossing on 10th Avenue between South Railroad Street and North Railroad Street in Phenix City, Alabama.

At said meeting, all persons desiring to be heard concerning the closure of said at-grade railroad crossing property may appear before the council at the aforementioned time and place to be heard.

The City Council of the City of Phenix City will conduct the regularly scheduled council meeting set for 6 p.m., Eastern Time, Tuesday, March 21, 2017, at the Martin-Idle Hour Park Community Center located at 3743 Moon Lake Drive, Phenix City, Alabama.

The location has been changed to allow more of the community an opportunity to participate in City Council meetings. The meeting is open to the public.

No other council meetings are currently scheduled for this location.

Notice is hereby given that the location for the regularly scheduled Phenix City Council Work Session set for 3 p.m., Eastern Time, Monday, February 6, 2017, has changed from the Third Floor Conference Room in the Municipal Building to the Auditorium at the Central Activity Center located at 1500 14th Street, Phenix City, Alabama.

Representatives from the Alabama Department of Environmental Management (ADEM) will be present at the Work Session to discuss with Council the following proposed plans and ordinance:

  1. Illicit Discharge Detection and Elimination Program
  2. Updates to the Storm Water Management Program Plan
  3. Amending the Code of Ordinances of the City of Phenix City, adding Chapter 10 1/2 – Stormwater Management

This meeting is open to the public and all persons interested are encouraged to attend.

Those wishing to address Council on the above issues may do so during the regularly scheduled Council meeting set for 9 a.m., Eastern Time, Tuesday, February 7, 2017, in the Council Chambers located in the Public Safety Building at 1111 Broad Street, Phenix City, Alabama.

Due to storm-related damage to Big Pine Grove Cemetery, the City of Phenix City has closed a portion of 22nd Street from 14th Court to 13th Avenue. Mayor Lowe and the City Council of the City of Phenix City will hold the annual State of the City Address on Thursday, January 19, 2017, at 6 p.m., Eastern Time, in the auditorium of the Central Activity Center, located at 1500 14th Street in Phenix City.

Mayor Lowe and Council will be reviewing the city’s financial statements, the status of current City projects, as well as future city projects, and other issues relevant to the citizens of Phenix City.

The public is encouraged to attend.

A rail gang with NSRR will be headed to Phenix City beginning Thursday, January 12, 2017. They have four crossings that will require repairs / maintenance work. Please be advised that the railroad will need these roads closed to all traffic while the work on the crossings is being done. Each road should only be closed for a hew hours, but please keep in mind that a longer closure may be needed depending on the necessary repairs. The roads will be closed at the crossings ONLY, and detour signage will be put in place.
