Starting Salary: $11.3722 / hourly

Position Overview

To assist greens superintendent and golf course maintenance division with all aspects of golf course maintenance including but not limited to course construction, operation of tractors, other turf equipment and chemical treatment to grounds.

Qualifications Required

Must have valid driver’s license from state of residence; must have high school diploma or GED or equivalent experience;  must have general knowledge of golf course; knowledge of proper operation and maintenance of equipment; verbal communications skills to converse with supervisors and crew members regarding work related activities; math skills to count and subtract whole numbers;  skills to comprehend written or oral instructions;  writing skills to prepare simple forms.

Physical Qualifications Required

Must possess mechanical ability to operate standard lawn maintenance equipment;  must be dexterous enough to use hands and fingers to grasp weed eater, lawn mower, etc.;  must be agile enough to work on all areas of golf course to include uneven terrain;  must be able to work outdoors in extreme temperatures;  must be strong enough to lift up to 50 pounds.

Qualifications Preferred

Prior experience of greens maintenance at Golf Course preferred.

Job Summary

To assist greens superintendent and golf course maintenance division with all aspects of golf course maintenance including but not limited to course construction, operation of tractors, other turf equipment and chemical treatment grounds.

Duties & Responsibilities

Operates greens mower with attachments to cut and maintains golf greens; prunes, water and fertilizes plants and shrubbery, collects and disposes garbage; inspects tools and equipment to ensure operability, performs minor services and repairs, obtains quotes on services and repairs needed; ensure equipment is cleaned and stored properly; performs additional duties in support of the department as needed or upon request.

Job Specifications

Credentials and Experience – Must have a valid driver’s license from state of residence; must have high school diploma or GED or equivalent experience; must have general knowledge of golf course; knowledge of proper operation and maintenance of equipment; verbal communications skills to converse with supervisors and crew members regarding work related activities; math skills to count, add and subtract whole numbers; skills to comprehend written or oral instructions; writing skills to prepare simple forms; skill to operate chain saw to cut low hanging limbs or to remove trees; skill to operate and utilize tools and equipment safely to perform various tasks; ability to work under general supervision and complete assigned tasks; ability to exercise judgment particularly in tasks involving safety of self or others and efficiency of operations. Ability to work as a member of a team.

Special Requirements – Be willing to comply with City of Phenix City policies and work rules. Be willing to work non-duty hours, holidays and weekends when necessary to achieve goals. Be willing to wear appropriate safety gear and adhere to safety regulations.
