When visiting City of Phenix City Municipal Court, please abide by the following rules of conduct while court is in session. This is for the consideration of court proceedings and those around you.
Courtroom Conduct
- Please silence all cell phones while in the courtroom
- No weapons or firearms
- No food or drink
- No chewing gum
- No use of tobacco
- No sleeping
- Any children present in the courtroom must remain quiet and well-behaved
Dress Code
Clothes and appearance during court must be safe and not disruptive to the judicial process. Remember you are appearing in a court of law. A good guideline to follow when getting ready for court is to dress as you would when going for an important job interview or to church. The following items are inappropriate to wear during a court appearance:
- Hats
- Flip flops
- Sleepwear / pajamas
- House shoes
- See-through tops
- Muscle shirts or tank tops
- Clothing that exposes the midriff or underwear
- Skirts or dresses that are too revealing
- Pants that fall below the waist (sagging)
- Clothing that depicts or promotes violence, sex acts, illegal drug use, racism, gangs, or obscene language
- Clothing with an emblem or wording that promotes illegal or inappropriate activity
- Clothing emblazoned with obscene words, images, or messages contemptuous or disrespectful of the judicial process
