Beginning Friday, May 1, 2020, the City of Phenix City will be reopening the Cliff Farrar Tennis Center to the public. Under the guidance of the Statewide Public Health Order (Safer-at-Home Order) amended by Governor Ivey on Tuesday, April 28, 2020, as well as recommendations provided by the U.S. Tennis Association (USTA), the tennis center will be reopening using the following safety procedures and guidelines until further notice:

  • All weekly clinics (junior and adult) are suspended
  • Players check in at the service window at the office
  • Demo racquets will not be available
  • Use of the facility’s tennis equipment will not be allowed by members / patrons (ball hoppers, teaching carts, etc.)
  • Ice will not be available (except for injury use)
  • No more than four (4) players will allowed on each court
  • Use of every other court, when possible
  • No water coolers placed on the courts
  • One person in the restroom at a time
  • The showers will be closed
  • No social interactions / gatherings in and around the tennis center
  • Players should stay on their side of the court and avoid changing ends
  • Limit touching of multiple tennis balls: Initial balls with a permanent marker and only pick up / touch the ball labeled with your initials

Normal hours of operation will resume upon reopening:

Monday: 3 – 8:30 p.m. EDT
Tuesday: 9:30 a.m. – Noon | 3 – 8:30 p.m. EDT
Wednesday: 9:30 a.m. – Noon | 3 – 8:30 p.m. EDT
Thursday: 9:30 a.m. –  Noon | 3 – 8:30 p.m. EDT
Friday: 1 – 6 p.m. EDT
Saturday: 9:30 a.m. – 3 p.m. EDT
Sunday: CLOSED

As a reminder, all city playgrounds, pavilions, athletic facilities, and recreation centers continue to remain closed, and city walking tracks and nature trails continue to be open for the use of walking and jogging only between the hours of 6 a.m. and 8 p.m. EDT, daily.
