Phenix City Council met for a Work Session at 3 p.m. EDT, on Monday, November 30, 2020 via the teleconference platform Zoom. The media and public were encouraged to watch online by visiting the website calendar and selecting the meeting date. After the event, the recording will be posted to the city’s YouTube page.
The following items were discussed:
Ms. Emily Riley addressed council regarding the installation of speed bumps on 13th Street behind Hardees Restaurant. She also asked if the street could be closed to through traffic. Mayor Lowe advised the street cannot be shut off and that speed bumps cannot be placed on a city street. Chief Smith advised there will be a greater police presence in that area and more tickets will be given to speeders. He also advised he will conduct a traffic count.
There was no Planning Commission Meeting for November 24, 2020.
December, 2020 and January, 2021 upcoming calendar events were discussed. The State of the City will be conducted via ZOOM in January.
Questions from City Council to Department Heads on various city projects.
Mayor and Council reviewed the December 1, 2020 Council Agenda.
City Attorney reviewed claims with Mayor/Council.
