Duties of the City Clerk
The City Clerk’s Office is the officially designated record-keeping agency for the city and is responsible for all public documents, both current and archival. Duties of the City Clerk’s Office include:
- Prepares agenda, attends, and records the proceedings of all City Council meetings
- Maintains records of all rules, ordinances, and resolutions of the City Council
- Acts as custodian of the City Seal
- Conducts all municipal elections
- Performs legal advertising for the city
- Schedules, coordinates, and plans special events and functions for the City Council
- Provides general administrative and clerical assistance to the City Council
Department Functions & Responsibilities
The city clerk is the custodian of records for the City of Phenix City, which includes all minutes, resolutions, ordinances, and codes of the city. The city clerk is also the city’s chief election official and is responsible for the administration of municipal elections.
