Hiring Requirements

  • Must be 18 years of age
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Valid Drivers License
  • Able to pass extensive criminal background investigation
  • Pass written and psychological examinations
  • Pass a physical agility test (CPAT-Candidate Physical Agility Test)
  • Pass medical examination
  • Good Moral Character
  • No Criminal Convictions
  • U.S. Citizen
  • Past Military Service Personnel must have Honorable Discharge

Requirements After Hire

After being hired by Phenix City Fire Rescue:

  • The applicant must pass the Firefighter I/II and Hazardous Materials, A & O certification training
  • The Hazardous Materials A & O Certificate is required
  • Applicant will obtain Alabama Basic Emergency Medical Technician and National Registry licenses within eighteen (18) months of date of hire
