Duties & Responsibilities of the Training & Personnel Unit
The Training and Personnel Unit is responsible for recruiting and hiring new personnel for the department and for the ongoing training for all personnel. This unit is responsible for maintaining certifications in the various disciplines of the police science. Police officer certifications, radar certification, firearms certifications, and any other certifications required to maintain a professional police force is scheduled and managed by this unit.
Standards
The Phenix City Police Department maintains standards that are over and above the minimum standards established by the Alabama Police Officers Training Commission (A.P.O.S.T.)
